About the ACCA MSc Uol and benefit for ACCA affiliate/Members

MSC in Professional Accountancy is the only masters’ program that is offered with an accountancy body at a professional level. The ACCA MSc Uol provides ACCA students, affiliates, and members, an opportunity to advance their career in the profession through a combination of ACCA Qualification and a postgraduate qualification from the University of London. 

To commence the ACCA MSc Uol program, ACCA students must have passed all Applied Skills and Strategic Professional Essentials Exams.

Affiliates and Members will only have to conduct the Strategic Financial Project and complete the Global Issues for the Finance Professional module in order to achieve the MSC in Professional Accountancy.

The ACCA MSc Uol program is to be completed within a duration of 6months to 5years, through either distance learning or a teaching center (Face-to-Face).

ACCA Students without the two Strategic Professional Essentials (SBL & SBR) are offered PGCert, with 2modules to complete. After completing the PGCert and Strategic Professional Essentials, students will then transfer to the MSC in Professional accountancy program.

The program, like the ACCA qualification, is designed to enable students to develop commercial, strategic, and innovative skills that address the challenges presented by the rapidly changing, volatile, and interconnected world we are in today.

The Three pathways to the ACCA MSc Uol

Three pathways are available to join the program and achieve the masters’ degree, and pathways are as follows;

MSC Pathway 1 of the ACCA MSc Uol Program: ACCA Students who have only completed the two Strategic Professional Essentials (SBL & SBR), must complete three 30-credit modules on the ACCA MSc Uol Programme.  The three 30-credit modules under this model are explain below

  1. Strategic financial management (PAM004) – This module blends the principles of financial management with business strategy and consider major strategic finance issues that are of importance to Finance Directors, CFOs, and other senior managers/ Directors. The module is assessed by a 30% Coursework and 70% Examination Bases.

 2. Strategic performance management (PAM005)– This module helps students in understanding key issues and apply methodologies relating to strategic management accounting that are concerned mainly about performance management, information management, and evaluation of financial risks. The module is assessed by a weighting 30% Coursework and weighting 70% Examination.

3. Strategic performance project (PAM006) – This module involves the acquisition of underpinning in research methodology, application of research skills in collecting and analyzing data within a simulation of the accounting/ finance scenarios. The module is assessed by a 30% Coursework and 70% Project.

MSC Pathway 2 of the ACCA MSc Uol Program: ACCA Members and Affiliates must complete two 30-credit modules on the MSC Programme. The two 30-credit modules are explain below

  1. Global issues for the finance professional (PAM100)-Introduce students to dynamics of the global environment in which finance and accounting models are applied. Considers the impact of the dynamics upon; i) underlying conceptual models, ii) the application of the models to find alternative solutions. This module is assessed through 50% Coursework and 50% Financial Assessment.
  • Strategic performance project (PAM006) – This module involves the acquisition of underpinning in research methodology, application of research skills in collecting and analyzing data within a simulation of the accounting/ finance scenarios. The module is assessed by a 30% Coursework and 70% Project.

PGCert of the ACCA MSc Uol Program: ACCA students who have completed the Applied Knowledge and Skills papers, but none of the Strategic Professional Essentials must complete two 30-credits modules before being transferred to the MSC Programme.

DURATION, PROGRAM COST, AND KEY DATE 

Duration for the ACCA MSc Uol Program

Each of these modules will take 22 weeks to complete, and students will need to allow 12 to 15 hours of study per week, of which time spent on coursework and revision is included.

Program cost for the ACCA MSc Uol Program

Cost per module for the Independent web-supported students is 1700 pounds. Each module fee covers access to materials and entry into written examinations, coursework and projects, but does not include fees charged by local exam centers, which may be paid directly by students.

The MSC degree is assessed through a combination of methods like coursework and projects which can be submitted online through University of London’s provided platform, including writing paper examinations which can be taken at any of University of London’s exam center worldwide. The grade of the degree achieved by students will be based on all the elements of the assessments.

Key data for the ACCA MSc Uol Program.

  • The next date for commencement of the program is the 13th of July 2020 and the 11th of January 2021 accordingly.
  • For July intakes, an application must be made before the 15th of June 2020 and registration for courses completed on the 22nd of June 2020.
  • The final assessment taking place on the 7th of December 2020.
  • Students starting in January must submit their application before the 7th of December 2020, complete their course registration before the 14th of December 2020, with the final assessment taking place on the 7th of June 2021.

Compulsory induction program is made available to students after they are fully registered; this must be completed before the commencement of the program.

You must be fully registered with ACCA in order to qualify for this program, members who have been delisted from the register are automatically disqualified from studying towards the MSC in Professional Accountancy. In the situation whereby a member completed the ACCA Strategic Professional papers more than five years ago, he/ she must demonstrate that his/ her continuing professional development (CPD) record is compliant with ACCA’s CPD policy since becoming a member. Members must also demonstrate an up-to-date CPD declaration during the current year.
